Albert Fitzpatrick's 1940 Packard
1940 Packard Sport Custom designed by Phil Lacey for Al Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatrick Coachworks in Hollywood, California. The Fitzpatrick Custom was designed by Phil Lacey. Phil showed his friend Al Fitzpatrick some of his sketches in 1947. Al fell in love with one of the sketches, and asked Lacey if he could build the car. The car was only 36 inches high from ground top top, and featured hand-formed body panels, a stylized grille, and front and rear flared fenders molded around a 122 inch Packard chassis. Doors, deck and hood were all operated by pushbuttons. The interior was done in soft durable calfskin, bleached white to contrast with the blue-metallic exterior. The car took three years and $20000 to complete.[2]
The car is currently owned by concept car collector Joe Bortz.[3]
