1948 Dodge owned and restyled by Bob Ramage of South Carolina. Bob would not have torn into his '48 Dodge if it had not come out second best in a traffic hassle, smashing the front and rear end, but the car had lots of opportunities, and Bob made the best of it. For instance, it was no more work to install a 1950 Mercury grille shell than it would have been to replace the crumpled grille with stock parts. Same deal aft, it proved easier to fill the deck lid than replace all the ornaments and shiny stuff which adorned the stock lid. A 1951 Ford grille was installed, and a Chevy gravel deflector was installed between the lower fender line and the front bumper. The rear springs were de-arched and small blocks inserted to drop the tail to a respectable level, while chopped coils did a similar job up front. A 1952 Dodge truck engine was installed to achieve extra power. The seats were upholstered in Naugahyde, and seat belts were installed. The car appeared in Rod & Custom January 1957 in "Out of the 48" pages.[1]
