1913 Ford Model T Roadster owned by Don Tognotti of Sacramento, California. Known as "King T," the car was built by Don and Gene Winfield of Winfield's Custom Shop. The build was started in July of 1962 and completed in 1964. It featured a Wild Pearl Lavender paint job that Gene Winfield laid in 1963.[1]

Upholstered by Walt

The King T was upholstered by Walt's Trim Shop in Fresno, California. Richard Noble used to go to Walt's shop in the evenings to watch him work, and in September of 2022 he still had fond memories of the car. "He did diamond tuck Pearl Beige and had to do the backrest three times," Noble told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama. "The diamond would fold or make a crease in the corners, so he changed the shape of the pattern until it was perfect. Walt was a really nice guy and didn't mind me watching him work."[2]

AMBR 1964

Once completed, the King T was shown at the 1964 National Roadster Show, where it won the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award.[1]

The Restoration

When the car was restored, Gene Winfield was asked to re-create the original paint job. In 2007, he flew to Seattle to paint the car.[1]

Sold at the Barret-Jackson Scottsdale Auction

In 2010, the car was sold at the Barret-Jackson Scottsdale auction. The price was $85,800.00.[1]

Part of the Gas Monkey Garage Collection

In 2016 Gas Monkey Garage purchased the historic hot rod, adding it to their collection. In September of 2022 the collection was sold, and the King T was advertised for sale on Bring A Trailer. Listed as an auction without a reserve, the car sold for $75,500 USD on September 14, 2022.[3]
