Kurt McCormick

Johnny Zaro's 1940 Mercury Coupe of Maywood, California. Johnny's Merc was restyled by Barris Kustoms in 1948 at their Compton Avenue shop. Kurt bought the remains of the Zaro Merc and had it restored. The restoration was completed in 1998.

Al Lauer's 1941 Cadillac Convertible

Sam Barris' 1950 Buick Sedanette, restyled by Sam Barris of Barris Kustoms, was completed in 1953. The car was built from a burnt out wreck, and Sam used it as his daily driver for about a year. Kurt bought the restored version of the car from Jim Walker. In 2012 Kurt hired Manns Restorations to restore the car again.

Buddy Alcorn's 1950 Mercury was originally restyled by the Ayala Brothers at Gil's Auto Body Works for an undisclosed owner in 1952. Buddy Alcorn of Dominguez, California acquired the car in 1955 and promptly took it to Barris Kustoms for further enhancements. Kurt purchased the historic custom in 1998. By then, the car had been exposed to the elements for years. Undertaking a comprehensive restoration, McCormick aimed to return the Mercury to its glorious second iteration under the Barris Brothers. The restoration was a labor of love and dedication, painstakingly restoring each detail to its former glory. Jimmy Hervatin did the metal work on the car, while David Conrad was responsible for the restoration. In 2002, the project reached completion, and the Buddy Alcorn Merc, a veritable phoenix risen from its ashes, once again graced the roads, a shining example of custom car artistry and history.

Kurt McCormick of Imperial, Missouri is a member of the Ridge Rodders car club. Kurt's first car, at age 16 was a 1951 Ford. He had many custom ideas for the car, but it never happened. In 1968, at age 24, Kurt bought his first custom, a chopped 1950 Mercury that he bought from Webber Park Motors in Afton, Missouri. Webber was a used car lot, and Kurt had to oay 150 USD for the Merc. Ten years later, Kurt bought his first of many Barris Kustoms, Milton Melton's 1954 Cadillac, also known as The Parisienne. More Barris Kustoms followed, and Kurt started to buy and restore Barris cars from all over the country.
