Street Rod & Custom Showtime is a hardcover book by Rodger Attaway.
300+ Pages. 850+ Photos. 1000 Numbered Copies.
Book Release Date: May 29, 2015.

Street Rod & Custom Showtime is a hardcover book that documents the history of Britain's indoor hot rod and custom car shows. From the humble beginnings in the early 1960s, through the explosive growth of the 1970s, into the victorious 1980s when UK customs appeared at the USA Grande Finale in Las Vegas, culminating in an Englishman's victory at the National Roadster Show in Oakland. From 1962 to 1982 over 110 indoor hot rod and custom car shows were held in the UK. Rodger's book includes anecdotes, memories and photographs from nearly one hundred of those who were there, as exhibitors, organizers, visitors and journalists. According to the author, "All of whom, by their enthusiasm, contributed to make it what it was - a chrome plated, candy colored extravaganza of creativity. "

Street Rod & Custom Showtime is a must for UK hot rod and custom enthusiasts! It is also a must for everyone interested in the history of hot rod and customs in general. We all know the history about how hot rodding started in California nearly hundred years ago, and how it spread to become a worldwide phenomenon. What not so many people know, is how and when hot rodding started in the UK. My favorite chapter in the book Early Days in the UK, tells the story about how a handful of young men began to develop their own style of hot rods in the 1950s. The first hot rod of UK was completed around 1958, and like so many other countries in the world, it started with an innocent copy of "Hot Rod Magazine!"
