Bob Davis of Long Beach, California was a member of the Lords of Wilmington car club. He was born in Portland, Oregon, but grew up in Long Beach. He attended Long Beach City College, and from 1960 to 1964 he owned a mildly customized 1935 Ford 5-Window Coupe. Bob went on to receive a degree in Commercial Art from the University of Central Oklahoma. He was an illustrator in the Marine Corps and he has worked as a graph designer, illustrator for manufacturing companies, ad agencies, and printers as well as doing free-lance art. He retired as the Manager of Creative Services at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education in 2004 where he had spent twenty years. Bob has been doing art most of his life, and he started doing computer art in the late 1980s when Adobe and Apple products made digital graphics practical. He started doing the car related scenes about 1 1/2 years ago. He noticed that some things were missing from restored gas stations like Coke machines, gas pumps, tire signs, etc. So, he began to add those things in Photoshop. Some pictures are mildly retouched while others have extensive work done to them. Bob has been going to car shows with the idea of photographing cars and putting them into car related scenes and selling the print to the car owner.
