Chuck's Buick on the cover of Motor Trend September 1950

1942 Buick Roadmaster restyled by Chuck Porter. The grille on the car was blanked-in, and replaced with a scoop concealed by bars in the modified 1941 Cadillac front bumper. The hood on the car comes from a 1947 Cadillac. It was operated by hydraulic lifts, and the doors were electric push button operated. The rear bumper originated from a 1949 Cadillac, and the taillights were from a 1948 Cadillac. The top was chopped 2 1/2 inches, and fitted with a padded white Carson Top. The interior was done in black leather. Once the bodywork was done, it was painted pale green. Chuck had invested more than $7000 in the car. The engine was from a 1948 Buick, 3/4 race engine.
