In 1965 Joe commissioned Gene Winfield of Winfield's Custom Shop to build and aluminum show car named the Autorama Special. Later on, the car became known as the Reactor.


Joe Kizis of Milford, Connecticut was well known East Coast show promoter. In 1951 he held the first Hartford Autorama, an indoor rod and custom car show in Hartford, Connecticut.


Joe registered the name "Autorama" in the U.S. patent office so it only could be used in connection with auto and cycle shows put on or sanctioned by his corporation.[1]


In the 1960s Joe commissioned Gene Winfield to build a show car named the Autorama Special. The build was completed in 1965, and it went on to be known as the Reactor.[2]
