Ray Gustaf Erickson of Kansas City, Missouri was half Swedish. Ray's dad was originally from Sweden. Ray was a member of the Kansas City Cranktwisters. The Kansas City Cranktwisters started out in 1952 as a club named Kansas City Timing Association. In 1956 Ray was elected president of the club. Later the same year the Kansas City Timing Association evolved into an organization that other clubs in the Kansas City area was organized under. This was done in order to reduce illegal street racing, and so the Police Department had only one club to deal with. The original Kansas City Timing Association club changed name to Kansas City Cranktwisters, and Ray became president of both clubs. In 1957 Ray declined renomination as President for the KCTA as both family and work were pressing him for time. Ray worked at Hallmark Cards as an engraver.
Ray did later become a member of the Mid West Misfits car club.
