Shifters auto club of Pontiac, Michigan. The club was founded in 1955. From the beginning they were about 16 members. Their first meetings were held at Motor Mart Auto Parts on Montcalm in Pontiac, Michigan. Some of their early activities were reliability runs. For these activities, members would help motorist that were broke down on the road and when repairs were made they would give the motorist a card telling them they were just helped by Shifters Auto Club.[1]

The club joined the Michigan Hot Rod Association 3 or 4 months after they were formed, and they are one of seven clubs that made up the association.[1]
