Ted Fear's 1952 Mercury

1952 Mercury Montery restyled by its owner Ted Fear of Highland Park, Michigan and Al's Custom Shop. First the car was nosed, decked and shaved for door handles. The doors and trunk were electrically operated by pushbuttons. The airscoop on the hood was raised and enlarged. The stock Merc headlight rims were kept, but Ted hand-made the shades out of round rod and sheet metal. The grille teeth were removed and the bumper was reworked to give more simplified lines to the car. The rear fenders were rounded and reworked in order to accept the 1953 Lincoln taillights which were installed. Lincoln trims were used on the lower rear fender panels. Bubble skirts, Moon hubcaps and dual spotlights wrapped up the style. The interior was upholstered in blue and cream leather. At last, the lowering job made this an acceptable custom.[1]
