An early construction photo of Harold "Buddy" Ohanesian's 1940 Mercury Convertible Sedan. Buddy bought the Merc right after returning from the service in 1945 and handed it over to Harry Westergard and Less Crane for a full custom makeover. They chopped the top, cut down the decklid, extended the hood, and installed a 1946 Chevrolet grille reshaped into an oval. This rare photo shows the car in primer and fitted with its first padded top, believed to have been made by Hall Top in San Leandro. Photo from The Jerry Fassett Photo Collection.
