Hot Rodding

Hot Rodding is the practice of modifying a car for increased speed and performance, often paired with custom styling. The roots of hot rodding trace back to Southern California in the 1930s, where young enthusiasts began hopping up old Fords with faster engines, chopped tops, and stripped-down bodies to race on the street and the dry lakes. After World War II, the movement exploded as returning GIs brought mechanical skills and a hunger for speed. Hot Rodding evolved into a defining part of American car culture, giving rise to organized racing, specialized parts, and an enduring lifestyle.
