Christer Karlsson from Karlstad in Värmland, Sweden had built others cars before he started this project in 1979.

A good -34 object was found at Thomas Kaakinen in Borlänge. It was not cheap but in relatively good shape and complete.
Furthermore the top was chopped 75 mm so Christer got a nice start. Even though, it should take over two years for the built.

He wanted a result that was possible to get approved even with the very tough regulations at that time in Sweden.
Much of the chassies therefore was left stock but everything repaired or replaced worn parts with new. Most of the parts were ordered from Sacramento Vintage Ford Parts in USA.

Ford -46 hydraulic brakes, Pete&Jakes shocks and a Halibrand quick-change on the stock rear end.

From Kaakinen there was included a 100 hp 59A flathead engine. It went through a complete overhaul including 030 bore, Offenhauser heads and manifold with three Holleys.

The interior and trunk was done in red naugahyde, seats from Toyota Celica and a woodgrained dashboard.

Christer has kept the car and made several updates over time.

Flames were painted on the sides and it got named "Karlstad Kid", of course a travesty on Pete Chapouris "California Kid" from the movie with the same name.
