Fritz Schenck's Outlaw Clone
Ed Roth's Outlaw clone built by Fritz Schenck of Kansas City, Missouri. Fritz built the car while he lived in Long Island, New York. Fritz started with a set of 1929 Ford Model A frame rails and a body from Jimmy C. The body was produced using molds that were taken from the original Outlaw. The car is built using period correct parts and materials. The car features a 1922 Dodge windshield frame, 1958 Chevrolet taillights, 1956 Chevrolet lenses, 1929 Ford Model A chassis rails, 1941 Ford axle, 1950 Cadillac 33i cid V8 engine featuring a Cragar intake and four Stromberg carburetors, and a 1939 Ford manual transmission.
Once completed, Schenck’s Outlaw recreation created a sensation just like Roth’s original car, with appearances at many prominent venues including Darryl Starbird's Exotic Car Show Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as the Loews Auto Fair in Charlotte, the Kansas City Autorama and the 57th Annual Detroit Autorama. As perhaps the most faithfully executed Outlaw creation, the work of Fritz Schenck represents a depth of appreciation for “Big Daddy” that is matched by few and surpassed by none.
