1958 Plymouth Savoy owned by Rumblers of Milano member Gian Paolo Tagliatti of Modena, Italy. Known as "Gianpy," he was born in Switzerland and grew up in Lugano. At 16, he spotted the Plymouth one summer evening in Lugano and fell in love with it on sight. It took him 22 years to finally buy it. When he got it, the car was in original condition with a 318 Poly engine, a 3-speed manual on the column, and no added accessories. The car was also known as Bad58.[1]
Custom Modifications
Gianpy is a hot rod and custom car builder who runs his own shop near Modena. His first change to the Plymouth was to repaint it black. After that, his friend Blaster added candy blue flames.[1]
The original drivetrain was later swapped out for a rebuilt 318 from a 1970 Dodge, paired with an automatic transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear axle with 2.77 gears. According to Gianpy, the combination was perfect for long freeway rides across Europe.[1]
In September 2023, Gianpy announced plans to redo the Plymouth once more. He considered two directions: a two-tone blue metallic scheme, or a dark maroon build with fender skirts and chrome lower moldings. He went with the second option.[3]
By November 2023, the car was in the shop with bodywork underway, fender skirts being fitted, and chrome lower moldings being welded onto the body.[4]
The completed car debuted in 2024, wearing deep candy red metallic paint. Fender skirts and chrome lower moldings running from the front wheels to the rear fenders gave the profile a longer, smoother look. Inside, the car received two-tone button-tuck upholstery in red and dark maroon, along with swivel seats.[5]
