Richard Howard's 1954 Mercury
1954 Mercury Monterey owned by Richard Howard of Raleigh, North Carolina. Known as the 50's Legend, Richard's Merc has been featured in several magazines and it is the winner of many awards, including Best Paint at the World of Wheels.
Modifications includes a chopped top. 5 inches were taken out up front, and 7 inches were taken out in the back. The rear quarter panels were extended and fitted with 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser skirts and a frenched power antenna. The headlights and taillights were frenched in, and the car runs two taillights on each side. The hood scoop was reworked. The doors were shaved for handles, and the body sides were dressed up with 1955 Pontiac side trim. It runs a 1953 DeSoto front bumper and grille, stainless side pipes and, dual spotlights. A custom Deltron Candy Lime Green and White Pearl paint job with gold-leaf flames and pinstriping wrap up the style.
Riding low, the upper A-frames were lowered and moved back and out. The frame was notched for clearance and cut Lincoln springs were installed. The rear of the car runs stock springs and four-inch lowering blocks with wedges, air shocks.
Richard's Merc has been described as a Time Capsule that has withstood the test of time. In September of 2020 he decided to advertise it for sale. Located in Raleigh, North Carolina, Richard is asking USD $53,000 or best offer for the car. Please get in touch with Richard at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info, details, and photos.
