At a speed trial meet in June 1933 Ed Winfield hit 119.60 miles per hour with a flathead Model B four-cylinder. The record wasn't eclipsed for more than a dozen years. In 1933 the majority of the entrants at the dry lakes exceeded 80 miles per hour, and approximately 16 percent exceeded 100 miles per hour.
