Ed Winfield was a pioneer in track roadster racing during the 1920s, gaining fame for his innovative engineering and racing success. He became a key figure in the Southern California racing scene, often driving modified Model T’s known as "Bob-Tails." In 1924, Winfield earned the title of "World's Fastest Ford," a testament to his impact on the sport. His expertise in camshaft design and carburetor development further solidified his legacy in the world of high-performance racing.[1]

At a speed trial meet in June 1933, Ed Winfield hit 119.60 miles per hour with a flathead Model B four-cylinder. The record wasn't eclipsed for more than a dozen years.
