Darryl Starbird's National Rod and Custom Car Hall of Fame Museum was a car museum located in Afton, Oklahoma, on Highway 85A, about an hour northeast of Tulsa. The museum sat on eighty acres of lakefront property along Route 66.[1]

History

Darryl Starbird founded the museum in 1995 as a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundation, and it opened in August of that year. The 40,000-square-foot building housed more than 50 one-of-a-kind cars, of which 25 were Starbird's own creations. The collection also included builds by George Barris, Dean Titus, Ed Roth, and Posies, along with photos and memorabilia.[1]

Merger and Closure

In May 2021, the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, Nebraska and the National Rod & Custom Car Hall of Fame announced a merger. The museum in Afton closed around 2022. Several of Starbird's vehicles, including the Li'l Coffin and the Predicta, were moved to the Museum of American Speed in Lincoln.[2]
