Ed Larsen's Barracuda of Ogden, Utah. Larsen, a production planner by trade, embarked on the ambitious project in 1953. His vision was to build a vehicle that not only showcased his craftsmanship but also utilized components from a diverse range of automobiles. The project took shape in his own garage, reflecting both his dedication and skill. It took three years and more than 2500 hours to complete the build. It made its debut in 1956.

Ray McMullin's 1941 Cadillac Coupe. Ray lived in the Ogden area in Utah. He was a member of the Stags of Ogden car club, and fellow club member Mickey Ellis believes he gave the coupe a Candy Red paint job circa 1959-1960.
Bo Huff's 1927 Ford Model T Bucket, of Salt Lake City, Utah as it appeared in 1964.
Jerry Woodward's 1929 Ford Model-A Roadster, "Thunder Road", of Provo, Utah was completed in 1957. The car was pinstriped by Tommy the Greek and it featured a mural on the glove box by Dean Jeffries. Jerry won the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award with the car at the 1957 National Roadster Show in Oakland.
Ron Maxwell's 1934 Ford 5-Window Coupe of Salt Lake City, Utah. The build was started in 1954, when Ron was 15 years old. The first iteration of the coupe was completed in 1955. Ron's coupe ran under flathead and later Cadillac power, competing in B/Altered at strips around Utah.
Bo Huff's 1936 Ford Tudor Slantback Sedan owned and restyled by Bo Huff of Bo Huff Customs in Dragertown, Utah. The car, named "Corene", was completed in 2013.
Mike Hemingway's 1948 Plymouth four door sedan of Salt Lake City, Utah. Mike was a member of the Falcons of Salt Lake City car club.

Noal Johnston's 1951 Mercury of Ogden, Utah. Noal was a member of the Stags of Ogden car club. The Merc was restyled in 1957.
Keith Hunt's 1952 Ford convertible of Salt Lake City, Utah. The car was already customized when Keith bought it in the Winter of 1956. It had been damaged at a used car lot, so Keith had Tanner Body Shop fix it up. The build was completed early in 1957. During the build, Keith became a member of the Falcons of Salt Lake City car club.

Kent Lee's 1954 Mercury four-door of Salt Lake City, Utah. Kent was a custom body and paint guy, and his Mercury, named "One Step Beyond", was a showcase creation.
Don Brock's 1955 Chevrolet of Salt Lake City as it appeared around 1961. Don was a member of the Crusaders of Salt Lake City car club.
Shelby Cornett's 1955 Chevrolet convertible of Ogden, Utah. Shelby was a member of the Stags of Ogden car club.
Lyle Mason's 1956 Chevrolet of Ogden, Utah. Lyle was a member of the Stags of Ogden car club.
Larry DeLuca's 1956 Ford F-100 of Salt Lake City, Utah was restyled in 1956.
Noal Johnston's 1956 Mercury of Ogden, Utah. Noal was a member of the Stags of Ogden car club.
Ron Lerdahl's 1960 Cadillac Eldorado of Salt Lake City, Utah featured a candy apple red paint job and factory air ride.
Jerry Woodward's X2000 of Provo, Utah was completed in 1962. The futuristic creation was a featured car at the 1962 National Roadster Show.

Ron Maxwell's 1932 Austin Bantam of Salt Lake City, Utah. Ron built the Austin Bantam in 1964.
Allan Winward's 1936 Ford 5-Window Coupe of Salt Lake City, Utah. Built by Allan, the build, known as "Miss Scarlet," was started in 2010 and completed in January of 2016. Allan is a members of the Salt Lake City Throttlers car club.


In the 1950s and early 1960s Salt Lake City, Utah was a mecca for hot rods and custom cars. In the early 1960s Utah passed a law against altered suspension, and that pretty well killed the customs in Utah. Eventually Bo Huff and some other were successfull in getting the law changed to allow lowering again.[1]
